FCH302: Introduction to Methodism
The Methodist Church in Samoa became an established independent church by way of the Australasia's; New South Wales and England Conference of the Methodist Church. In many traditions of the Methodist Church the current church has diluted or revisited certain traditions of the church. However, it is essential that as we continue into the future that we understand our heritage so as to repeat our mistakes and to rejoice in our accomplishments.
CH502: Pacific Church History 1: Mission in the Pacific
This course introduces students to a historical development of missions and missionary endeavors in the Pacific. Attention is also given to explore other non-missionary factors that either played a positive role towards missions' goals or others which slowed and at times prevented success.
CH602: Samoan Methodism: 1835 - 1856
This course is a continuing study of Methodism is Samoa, beginning fro the arrival of Peter Turner in Samoa in 1835 and the withdrawal of the Wesleyan Mission in 1839. The course also discusses the reopening of Methodism in Samoa from the late 1850's, which owed much to the determination and approval of the Australian Conference.
