BS511: Writings and Wisdom Literature
Students are introduced to this portion of the Bible (Writings) with an emphasis upon the Wisdom Literature: its origin, nature, genre, and the significant issues will be discussed. Exegetical studies from selected wisdom books will be conducted to explore the biblical wisdom, and its relevancy today.
BS411: Pentateuch
The Pentateuch, or generally known as the first 5 books of the OT Scripture provides a beginning to the story of God the creator of the universe, the world, and the people. The study of the Pentateuch is crucial as it forms the foundation of the history, the religion, the belief and faith of the conventional nation.
BS612: Psalms
This course focuses on the study of Psalms and its functions in the worship life of the Israelite. The course explores the historical context in which the Psalms have been composed and assist the students in interpreting Psalms through knowledge gained into the various context and theologies, as well as its place in Jewish Wisdom Literature. Lastly, the literature itself: structure, form, and type of Psalms will be the main concern of the study.
BS732: Post Exilic Literature
The course explores the books written in Jerusalem after Israelites return from the exile. They are Ezra, Nehemiah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. Students are encouraged to comprehend the historical, political, an social contents of certain book an their purpose in relation to the history of Gods people. The relationship between the Chronicles an the post exilic literature will also be addressed.
